Our comunity

Downs School Association

The association is very active  and serves to host events that both raise funds for the benefit of the children, and facilitate social interaction for the benefit of the parents and the entire school community. This year our school community has enjoyed some super events: the excellent summer fete, the glorious fireworks, The Father's Festival of Six-a- Side Cricket and the befuddling Quiz Night. Traditionally the DSA sponsors Arts Week , a major outstanding event in the school calendar. Lately it has also donated to the school two Formula 24 Greenpower Racing Car kits; a Hobbit House and Tree House for the wonderful Woodland Play Area; and extensive Gymnastic equipment for the Pre-Prep. The DSA are now currently focusing on installing a video and editing system in the theatre that will allow for the recording of all productions and concerts.

Parents Sport

Parent Sport

A close, spirited community, we are delighted that a numberof parent teams represent the school.

Netball

The mums have both a social and a competitive netball team.Social netball takes place on Monday evenings and includes the occasional informal match. League matches take place on Wednesday evenings to the more discerning.

Cricket

The Dads have a Social Cricket XI that play regularly duringthe summer term. The DSA also organise a Father’s Day six-a-side tournament, which is eagerly but cheerfully contested each June.

Football

Throughout the winter Dads play five-a-side each week. It is a friendly, ‘in house’ occasion the need for more competitive league action unnecessary.

Fitness Classes

Fitness classes for all parents are held in the Sports Hall each Monday and Friday after ‘drop off’. Incorporating a dynamic series of movements, exercises and games, the sessions are well attended and ensure a healthy bunch of parents on the touchline.

Mondays: Interval Training

Fridays: Pilates and Yoga
