The beautiful surroundings of Charlton House, a Grade II listed mansion, provides a stunning backdrop for any event, whether it is a wedding or a corporate function.
Tucked away from the main road, yet still within a 20 minute drive of Bristol City Centre, The Downs is a very special place to host a party. Guests would approach the venue down the tree-lined driveway which is surrounded by sixty acress of the South-West's finest parkland. Charlton House,an impressive Victorian building, stands overlooking the large lawn and the far reaches of the estate.
The School's magnificent oak-panelled hall, complete with working fireplace, provides a sumptous reception venue for drinks and canapes. Or, if the weather is fine guests may stroll amongst the well-kept flowerbeds.
From the most intimate dinner parties to spectacular marquee weddings, from 100 or up to 650 guests, for dining and dancing, The Downs will exceed all expectations. In the evening the surrounding estate comes alive when theatrically lit with coloured uplighters and twinkling fairy-lights, flares and candles can give a dramatic approach to the school.

The Downs is an ideal location for seminars and conferences. Set in stunning, tranquil North Somerset parkland it is difficult to believe Bristol and the M5 is only three miles away. The beautiful, high ceiling Victorian rooms lend themselves perfectly to seminars whilst the theatre is equipped with all the necessary technology to host larger conferences. Additional features include an impressive Sports Hall, an attractive outdoor pool, astro turfs and plenty of parking.
